Google Power Searching

Welcome to the Tiffin-Seneca Public Library's newest blog, Search Smart!  This resource will aim to help you efficiently search the web for the information you need.  Tips on searching websites, databases, business information, and more will be included!

Our first installment will focus on Google Power Searching.  This was a course offered by Google in late 2012.  It covers topics like choosing keywords, word order, removing invasive results, finding specific file types, and how to evaluate websites.  What I love about the course is that the materials are available in several different formats.  The videos are wonderful, but you can also access slides from the presentation as well as simple text. If this class doesn't quite hit the topics you are interested in, there is also an Advanced Power Searching class.

Did you know our Searching the Internet class focuses on Google tips and tricks?  Check out the handouts at this link.  Look for this class to be offered in Fall 2013.
